Weeds’ Seventh Season Smokes a Big Apple Bong

Mary-Louise Parker may look cute as a button in prison garb and nerd glasses, but Nancy Botwin is about to go from big house to Big Apple when Weeds' seventh season takes the Botwin Family to the glamour of New York City.

And according to Showtime’s press release, New York isn’t the only change in store, and spoilers be warned.  Season Six of Weeds ended with Nancy turning herself in for the murder of Pilar Zuazo, which season seven certainly doesn’t ignore, picking up a full three years later upon Nancy’s parole from prison!  Of course, the Feds wouldn’t simply let Nancy loose in the Big Apple, as our favorite dealer must first complete her probation in a strictly monitored halfway house while her boys head for NYC with Doug (Kevin Nealon) in tow.

But that’s not all!  Season seven will also introduce several new recurring guest stars, including comedian Martin Short as Nancy’s eccentric lawyer, and Aiden Quinn (Prime Suspect) as “a charismatic investment firm CEO.”  Jennifer Jason Leigh will also reprise her role as Nancy Botwin’s sister for at least one episode.

Filming is currently under way in Los Angeles (damn you, fake set dressing!), while Weeds' seventh season will premiere Monday, June 27th at 10p ET/PT.

New Season of “Weeds” Features Complicated Story and Star Appearances

Showtime’s hit show “Weeds” will have some big changes this season, including several guests stars and a move to New York City.

Famous faces such as Martin Short, Aidan Quinn, and Lindsay Sloane will appear on the show.

The show stars Mary-Louise Parker as Nancy Botwin, a mom who turned to dealing marijuana to earn an income. The role, which won Parker a Golden Globe, got even more interesting when the character turned herself into the FBI last season.

Now, Nancy finds herself in New York completing probation in a halfway house. This doesn’t stop her from dealing, though, even though she must start all over in creating her business.

Jennifer Jason Leigh will also be returning to the show for season 7. Martin Short will play an attorney in at least three episodes, while Aidan Quinn will play a CEO in at least four episodes.

This season of “Weeds” premieres Monday, June 27 at 10 p.m. ET on Showtime.
